BPM 24754 : A new Southern ZZ Ceti star ?
نویسنده
چکیده
We report the discovery of a new long–period ZZ Ceti star through the analysis of photometric time series gathered on 7 nights between 1995 and 1996. The light curve displays a periodic variation with a period of ∼ 18 min in white light and the frequency analysis reveals a low frequency peak at ∼ 0.92 mHz with an amplitude varying from 0.007 to 0.025 mag present every night. BPM 24754 is the 28th known ZZ Ceti star and it has the second longest period. We have also determined its atmospheric parameters using line profile fitting and its mass using white dwarf evolutionary models. BPM 24754 has Teff = 12, 900 ± 320 K, log g = 8.04 ± 0.08, andM = 0.63± 0.04 M . We compare its Teff in relation to the ZZ Ceti instability strip.

PG 1541 + 650 : A new ZZ Ceti white dwarf ?
We report the discovery of a new pulsating DA white dwarf, or ZZ Ceti, from the list of the Palomar-Green survey, rediscovered in the ongoing Hamburg Quasar survey (HQS). PG1541+650 is one of the ZZ Ceti candidates listed in the analysis of 80 DA white dwarfs from the HQS. With an effective temperature of 12000 K, for a surface gravity logg=7.79, it lies in the ZZ Ceti instability strip. It is ...
متن کاملNew evolutionary models for massive ZZ Ceti stars. II. The effects of crystallization on their pulsational properties
In view of recent claims that asteroseismology could supply invaluable insights into the crystallization process occurring in the interiors of massive white dwarf stars, we present in this work new pulsational calculations for improved carbon-oxygen DA white dwarf models suitable for the study of massive ZZ Ceti stars. The background models employed in this study, presented in detail in a recen...

We report the discovery of two new ZZ Ceti pulsators, LP 133−144 and HE 1258+0123, selected on the basis of model atmosphere fits to optical spectroscopic data. The atmospheric parameters for LP 133−144, Teff = 11, 800 ± 200 K and log g = 7.87 ± 0.05, and for HE 1258+0123, Teff = 11, 410 ± 200 K and log g = 8.04 ± 0.05, place them within the empirical boundaries of the ZZ Ceti instability strip...
متن کاملNew evolutionary models for massive ZZ Ceti stars: I. First results for their pulsational properties
We present new and improved evolutionary calculations for carbon-oxygen white dwarf (WD) stars appropriate for the study of massive ZZ Ceti stars. To this end, we follow the complete evolution of massive WD progenitors from the zero-age main sequence through the thermally pulsing and mass loss phases to the WD regime. Abundance changes are accounted for by means of a full coupling between nucle...
متن کاملThe unusual pulsation spectrum of the cool ZZ Ceti star HS 0507 + 0434
We present the analysis of one week of single-site high-speed CCD photometric observations of the cool ZZ Ceti star HS 0507+0434B. Ten independent frequencies are detected in the star’s light variations: one singlet and three nearly-equally spaced triplets. We argue that these triplets are due to rotationally split modes of spherical degree l = 1. This is the first detection of consistent multi...
